The Pandemic - 2020/21

2020

In 2020 I took a well needed break from surgeries. I had one procedure to remove a mass from my womb under local anaesthetic, it was tough but it was worth it not to go under general again after 4 surgeries in quick succession. The results were clear so I was able to start to enjoy life a bit more again.

I didn't write my blog in 2020, I still wrote in a journal in the old fashioned pen to paper way, to help me through the isolation of lock down and shielding until the July.

This was the only post I wrote since 2019. I had moved my regular updates to Instagram in August 2018 following my surgeries.

I can’t believe it’s been so long since I’ve posted…

How much has changed? We are all working from home in the pandemic. This was not a huge change for me as I worked from home a couple of days as part of my phased return. It just meant that now my colleagues were too which made it easier eventually with us all doing it.

I started Design Be Inspired Ltd, an interior design company and had my first client at the end of 2020 🙂 yay! It was such hard work to set up a company and work for myself, whilst working full time in my day job - but it feels like something I was born to do.

In September 2020 I had surgery to remove an atypical polypoid mass in my womb, I tried Dienogest to slow the growth of endometriosis but had horrendous side effects. I also tried the Mirena coil and an anti seizure medication to help control my migraines which in high doses was found to help with endometriosis pain in reports.

However, for me it left me bleeding constantly for months with joint pain and lots of other side effects.

On the 27th February 2021, I had my third lung surgery (6 weeks ago). It was rough especially during lockdown with NBH not able to visit but I’m hoping to make a good recovery 🙏💪

Today I had my third post surgery follow up and the consultant was very positive about my progress. The pain i've been struggling with is normal and will take a bit longer but he was pleased.

I just need to go out there and start living my life again!

Hi, thanks for stopping by!

Thanks so much for taking time out to read my story. I share my story and my journey on Instagram to build awareness about Chronic Illness and endometriosis.

Diagnosis of thoracic endometriosis has been a life changing experience with very little information out there.

Building a community of people who share their own experiences has made a huge difference to me and to others dealing with similar symptoms.

The idea was to support others on their path to diagnosis and treatment with shared experience.

Look after yourself!
