My first laparoscopy for endometriosis
To do 💟 Pack for hospital 💟 Go for a walk 💟 Read endo book 💟 Laproscopy 💟 Coffee at Cafe Nero
Journal Today is the day of my first laparoscopy. I am a little nervous but it will be good to get it out of the way so that I can finally look forward.
I went for a walk this morning which helped to clear my mind although it was very hot! I had my last oat latte for the next 6 months and wrote all of my birthday cards ready for July and August. I read my endo books and researched on the diet side of things too.
I go into hospital at 3:30pm and will update you as soon as i’m out and better.
I went down to surgery at 7pm and came back to my room at around 10:30pm. I’ll speak to the consultant tomorrow and understand what they found and what they had to do.

Journal I woke up at 4:30am. I didn’t sleep very well throughout the night. I think I was worried as I didn’t fully understand the outcome as it was too late to see the surgeon.
I went for a short walk this morning and saw an old friend and her mum downstairs who worked at the hospital. It was so nice to have a quick catch up and speak to a friendly familiar face.
I saw my consultant and he explained that I had stage 4 endometriosis. It was in my bladder, bowel, both sides of my uterus, my diaphragm as we already knew. My ovary was tucked behind and my tubes stuck to tissues so it could hardly be seen. I also had it rectal vaginal endometriosis and it was stuck to my cervical wall but it was too dangerous to remove and in my bowel. It explains all of the pain I went through all of these years!
He said I should notice an improvement and should see a nutritionist to try a plan to prevent it growing back there has been research to suggest this can be successful.
I got to go home at around 7:30pm and went straight up to bed to rest.

To do 💟 Surgeon follow up Journal Today we got up, got ready and headed to the hospital for my follow up with my endometriosis consultant.
He explained:
There was endo on both sides of the uterus
Bowel was lifted right up with adhesions
Adhesions meant he couldn’t see urethra
The adhesions hid right ovary and tube
Rectum and cervical wall attached with adhesions
Adhesions wrapped around bladder
Fibroid and ovarian cyst looked fine
Tubes didn’t look blocked
He released ovary and tubes so back to normal
Severe case of endometriosis
The ligaments that keep vagina in place were cleared
Small spot of endometriosis still on diaphragm and rectal/cervical wall.
He wants me to try nutritionist 6 months and trial Dienogest
